Mortal Kombat is arguably one of the most controversial gaming franchise in history thanks largely to it being one of the first ultra-violent video games. There is no question that the series will forever be best known for the violence but, also for the fun gameplay as well as interesting characters/plot. Characters such as Scorpion, Liu Kang, Sub Zero are memorable and thanks to a successful reboot of the series in 2011, we learnt more about them due to the better a plot. A plot that is now being retold via an animated adaptation. Thanks to IGN, we got our first look at a new trailer.
You may not be much a fan of Basketball. Heck, you may not be a fan of any sport but, there is a high chance that you came across the name Kobe Bryant. The basketball legend is one of the few athletes that transcends their sporting bubble and established footprints in all facets of pop culture. Mr Bryant was an icon, a winner, so much so that in 2017 he did what no other athlete had done before him...win an Academy Award. He pulled off this feat without any skills that could be found on any court but, thanks to his animated short film, Dear Basketball.
Trigger Studio's Kill La Kill is one of my favourite anime series of the last decade. It was near perfect with its unique art style, plot, action, humour and smooth as jazz animation. From there, Trigger proved they weren't a one-hit-wonder producing numerous successful series as well as the impressive feature film Promare, late last year. And now, the studio is making a return to the silver screen with their latest series BNA: Brand New Animal and based on its first trailer, they may have another winner on their hands.
There are tons and tons of animated content ready to be binged on Netflix today. The online streaming giants have repeatably upheld their mantra of having something for everyone by spending big bucks to acquire and produce their own animated shows/films to go along with their live-action collection. Anime, in particular, is surprisingly well supported with many shows/films that were initially slated for the Japanese audience only, was brought over the Pacific for western eyes thanks to Netflix. Now, the CG animated adaptation of the first Pokemon movie Mewtwo Strikes Back, is the next added to the list.
After all the rumours, speculations, theories and wish lists, in the end, Super Smash Bros Ultimate director Masahiro Sakurai pulled a fast one when announcing the game's final DLC Pack 1 fighter. Forget about names like Sora, Dante and Crash Bandicoot as Sakurai crushed many fans' dream when he announced that Fire Emblem Three Houses main character Byleth as the lastest who accepted the Smash invitation.
