After all the rumours, speculations, theories and wish lists, in the end, Super Smash Bros Ultimate director Masahiro Sakurai pulled a fast one when announcing the game's final DLC Pack 1 fighter. Forget about names like Sora, Dante and Crash Bandicoot as Sakurai crushed many fans' dream when he announced that Fire Emblem Three Houses main character Byleth as the lastest who accepted the Smash invitation. This came as a massive surprise to Smash community as the early trend was set by the previous 4 DLC fighters all being a major third party character. To be fair, Sakurai once again reiterated that his decisions on fighters are based on fun gameplay rather what is popular. His live stream demonstration backed that up as on first impressions, Byleth does look fun. Byleth's skills come from their Hero Relic, which transforms their sword into a variety of new forms, including the Sword of the Creator, the Areadbhar lance, the Aymr axe, and Failnaught bow. Each of these weapons could be accessed via different directional inputs with all having their own hit stun and properties. If you are not buying the concept that Byleth will be fun to use and wised we got another character to round off DLC Pack 1? Then fret not as Sakurai also reconfirmed that a Fighters Pack 2 is still on it's way. The bigger news here is that this pack will actually bring us 6 new characters instead of 5 similar to the first Fighters Pack. So yeah...I never played Fire Emblem Three Houses and, Byleth does look fun but, I do understand that disappointing feeling the majority of Smash community are now experiencing as a result of this announcement. We went from dreaming of using the likes of Sora, Dante and Sub-Zero to instead settle for yet another Fire Emblem character (Byleth is the 7th *8th if you count Chrom* from the series). At least 6 new fighters are coming and, the dreaming can once again start anew. -YOU MAY ALSO BE INTERESTED IN
