Despite the industry currently winding down on another console generation and the next-gen rumour mill already in overdrive, we are still seeing a steady stream of quality titles releasing this year. February was usually busy with the great games such as Wargroove and Metro Exodus, surprise hits such Apex Legends and even those games that had a hard time living up to the hype (looking at you ANTHEM). Now March is upon us and with it a great variety of excellent games. Here is what we think are the major releases of March 2019:
DEAD OR ALIVE 6 (MARCH 1)
By the time this blog post goes live, the next entry in the very underrated DEAD OR ALIVE series will already be out. With TEKKEN 7 and SOUL CALIBER 6 bringing 3D fighters back in the spotlight, DOA 6 arrives at the perfect time. The game differs from its predecessors with new mechanics and features including slow-motion moments and visible damage on the fighters during the course of the fight. Full costume customization was also thrown in for good measure, a first for the series.
devil may cry 5 (March 8)
While DmC: Devil May Cry was a decent and fun twist on this popular hack & slash action series many fans believed something was missing...you know that special ingredient that was in the original games. A fact that was not lost on series creators CAPCOM as they brought back the original team from those games(minus the legendary Hideki Kamiya) for this numbered entry. So far it proved to be an inspired move as the demo confirmed that special something that was missing is truly back leaving us in fits as we wait for the game's release.
TOM CLANCY'S THE DIVISION 2 (MARCH 15)
TOM CLANCY'S THE DIVISION was far from the perfect game but boy oh boy was it fun! Now Massive Entertainment and Ubisoft take another crack at this online action role-playing game with hopes of ironing out those problems of the first game all while looking to elevate the already engaging gameplay to new heights. With their rival massive online shooter rival ANTHEM not fully living up to the hype, the pressure is on Division 2 to deliver.
ONE PIECE: WORLD SEEKER (MARCH 16)
"Jump Force was a dud! I am not trusting another anime game again. What? Are you saying you can swing around the city like spider-man in World Seeker? Ok, one more". These are the gist of the conversations here at the Blue Crescent Studio, as the chance at being the leader of the straw hats had many of us way too excited for the game's release.
SEKIRO: SHADOWS DIE TWICE (MARCH 22)
Honestly, do we even need to say anything more about this game? LOOK AT IT! IT IS DARK SOULS FULLY ENTRENCHED IN THE AWESOME WORLD OF SAMURAIS! From the creators of Dark Souls to boot, this game is on course to be one of the best games of the year when finally drops this month end.
YOSHI'S CRAFTED WORLD (MARCH 29)
It may be the final game on our list, but it is by far the most adorable. We love this direction Nintendo is taking with the latest Yoshi games as they continue the dazzle us with the beautiful art style of each title. Crafted World is more than just eye candy as well as the platforming is engaging -albeit a bit easy- with a great new mechanic of interacting with objects in both the background and foreground. However, as the lone Nintendo switch game on this list and also the one major first-party release for the first half of the year, here's hoping the game gets even better throughout the journey.
There you have it, our picks for the games you should keep your eye on this month. Honourable mentions such as Assassin Creed 3 Remastered and Left Alive are also releasing in March making it another month of great gaming.
