The METRO series had always been a bit underrated by the gaming community. The first two METRO games were known quality shooters that focus more on ambiance, deep and engaging plot, and tight gameplay instead of mindless run and gun found in many of its counterparts. Now the third in the series METRO: EXODUS releases today with hopes of garnering more of gamer's attention despite releasing in a crowded February. Here are some the critics views:
IGN 8.5: "It’s a frequently exhilarating and densely atmospheric journey across a Russian dystopia brimming with detail and deadly inhabitants, and well worth the trip for its consistently effective use of survival horror and hair-raising action". The game looks salvageable, and I expect it to perk up after a few patches. But, because of the bugs, even die-hard fans may want to wait for a while before they commit the time to get stuck in." GAMESPOT 8/10: "The open sandboxes may not be strongest addition, but the game still embraces the sense of vulnerability and post-apocalyptic terror alongside impact-full weapons used in refined combat and stealth scenarios." GAMERRANT 3.5/5: "Even with its technical issues, lack of genuine horror, and bland cast make it fall short of its predecessors, Metro Exodus is still a decent mix of the franchise’s traditional stealth/shooter gameplay and a semi-open world environment, with some truly stellar graphics to boost." It offers a rich, evolving world, brought to life with stunning visuals, immersive sound and ghastly creatures. These thrills and chills are irritatingly tempered with menial tasks, poor voice acting, dull stealth and a soulless hero, all of which prevent Metro Exodus from achieving its true potential."
