We are now at the end of November, and what a month in major game releases it was. However, it is now time for the month festive cheer, fruit cakes, gift-giving and typically the start of the slow period for games...oh so we thought. This December is shaping up to be one of the best in years with one possible genre-defining game set to be the creme of the crop. Here are our recommended games of December 2020: Empire of Sin (Dec. 1)The month begins literally with an offer you can't refuse as the mobster strategy game Empire of Sin comes to all major consoles. In the game, the player takes the role of one of several mob bosses inspired by real-life figures in Chicago during the Prohibition era. The player uses their boss to control the actions of their underlings to take over opponents' business and recruit new members to their cause while defending their own empire from the other bosses. Immortals: Fenyx Rising (Dec. 3)Hankering for some open-world Breath of Wild type of game and Age of Calamity just ain't cutting it? Well, my friend, Ubisoft got your back with their third open-world title in quick succession, Immortals Fenyx Rising. Sure it ain't a BOTW clone, but base on early impressions and trailers it does seem to mass up the best of Zelda with a heavy dose of Assassin Creed, all wrapped up into Greek Mythology blanket. If that doesn't scream at you 'Must Play!', then you my friend, should try out knitting. Puyo Puyo Tetris 2 (Dec. 8)I was first introduced to Puyo Puyo when it was cosplaying as a Kirby game back in the 90s. Kirby's Avalanche for the SNES is one of my favourite games of all time (and in essence Puyo Puyo) and I never had so much fun playing a puzzler since...well since the original Tetris on the GameBoy (yes I am old). Then at the start of the Switch's life, the geniuses over at Sega decided to mash the two up, and it was a match made heaven. It works so well that the game sold enough for Sega to green-lit a sequel that's popping its way to Switch and PS4 this December 8th. Cyberpunk 2077 (Dec. 10)OK, now for the big boy. No disrespect to all the games above in this list, but I would be lying if I said they were December's most anticipated. Cyberpunk 2077 has been on most people's most anticipated list for a long time, mainly due to the game being so dang long to be released. This time, the devs pinky swear-ed that the game won't miss its December 10th appointment, and I for one, can't wait to get lost in Night City. And there you have, 2020 has been...and how can I say this...Dark Souls difficult, but the games this year haven't been too bad. As stated before, December is normally the beginning of the end of when it comes to the quality releases for winter but with a game like Cyberpunk 2077, it may very well be one of the best ever.
