And just like that, March is already over. This past month only brought us a small sampling of gaming goodness (thank god for Monster Hunter Rise and It Takes Two) as well as the death of a gaming icon (RIP Mario), but looking forward to April's release line up breaths optimism anew. As per usual, we rounded up the 5 best games we believe you should look forward to for the upcoming month: OUTRIDERS (APRIL 1)Just like 'Souls-like', 'Rouglike' and 'Battle Royals' games, 'Looter Shooters' is the new sub-genre games people just can't get enough of. And, despite the colossal failure of EA's Anthem, Square Enix is entering the fray with one of their very own in the likes of Outriders. The game is an upcoming cooperative role-playing third-person video game developed by People Can Fly, and set to take flight on April Fools Day. Nier Replicant ver. 1.22474487139 (april 23)NieR Automata was one of the best games of the PS4/Xbox One generation. It was so good that by the end of the credits, I was already chomping at the bits for more. It seems Square Enix heard my cries and decided to give me a "new' game in the series this month. NieR Replicant ver. 1.22474487139... is an updated version of NieR Replicant, previously only released in Japan. Discover the one-of-a-kind prequel of the critically-acclaimed masterpiece NieR:Automata. Now with a modern upgrade, experience masterfully revived visuals, a fascinating storyline and more! new pokemon snap (April 30)Speaking of hearing cries...fans of the N64 cult classic Pokemon Snap over 22 years had been begging for a new entry. Then out of nowhere, The Pokemon Company dropped the bomb that New Pokemon Snap will be coming to the Switch in April. For those of you that never played the original, the game is an upcoming first-person simulation video game with rail shooter style gameplay mechanics. R-Type Final 2 (april 30)April so far seems like a month tailor made for fans of older IPs. R-Type a relic IP from the nineties will also be receiving a new entry in April with R-Type Final 2. The game is an upcoming horizontal-scrolling shooter video game developed and published by Granzella. Part of Irem's long-running R-Type series, it is a sequel to R-Type Final released in 2004, and the first R-Type game in over a decade, after the release of R-Type Tactics II: Operation Bitter Chocolate in 2009. Returnal (April 30)The PS5 is now 5 months old and although it launched with amazing exclusives Demon Souls and Max Morales, the hype train since had been cooled somewhat. We are still stuck in that weird cross-gen phase right now which may be view as the main culprit for the lack of true PS5 experiences. Hopefully this lull is coming to an end with the launch of the exclusive Returnal. The game is an upcoming third-person shooter science-fiction psychological horror video game developed by Housemarque and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment. As stated in our look at March release dates, last month really was scarce on quality titles, and was heavily reliant on Monster Hunter Rise and It Takes Two. Luckily, April seems to have a little more meat on its bones to keep us full until May. -YOU MAY ALSO BE INTERESTED IN
