In our recent Top Games of March listing, Yoshi's Crafted World was the lone representative flying the flag high for team switch. The major Nintendo games well have truly dried up so far this year but, the big N is hoping this Yoshi title can jump start 2019. Question is, can it do it? Or rather, is it any good? Here is the review roundup:
IGN 7.8/10
'Yoshi’s Crafted World is an engaging and charming platformer that is absolutely worth playing, but it misses a clear opportunity to be more than that by not taking full advantage of its most clever ideas.' The 2D-to-3D level design keeps you curious while the go-at-your-own-pace approach keeps the pressure off and leaves you to appreciate the small, imaginative details.' To read full review click here. GAMEINFORMER 8.25/10 'After a fun adventure through a world made of wool, Yoshi's transition to arts and crafts is a delight. With satisfying exploration, fun platforming, and a charming art style, Yoshi's Crafted World gives the Switch yet another strong platformer.' To read full review click here.
DESTRUCTOID 7.5/10
'Most of my journey through the wonderful cardboard universe of Yoshi's Crafted World, littered with myriad ridiculous noises from Yoshi, was spent with a smile on my face. It's not the type of project that's going to set the world on fire like Tropical Freeze, but it still has more heart than most studios could ever hope to give in their lifetime.' GAMESRADAR 3.5/5 'The difficulty in recommending this game is that it’s an absolutely solid Nintendo platformer, but it doesn’t really do anything ambitious or use its conceit to great effect.' So according to the critics Yoshi's Crafted World is a fun game but not mind blowing awesome spectacle like some of the other Nintendo first party switch titles. I have played the demo myself and while the games was simple oozing charm, the gameplay was slow and too relaxing for my taste. For those who loved the demo the game fully releases on March 29.
