When it comes to the animated film industry, Pixar and Dreamworks are considered the big dogs. But, thanks to the recent success of Spiderman: Into the Spidey Verse and The Mitchells vs. the Machines, Sony Animations is quickly building a reputation for the next animation house to produce sure-fire hits. Yeah, we know Wish Dragon missed the mark, but after seeing the first trailer for their new film Vivo, there is a lot to be optimistic about. Premise The film follows a one-of-a-kind kinkajou named Vivo, who spends his days playing music to the crowds in a lively Havana square with his beloved owner Andrés. Though they may not speak the same language, Vivo and Andrés are the perfect duo through their common love of music. But when tragedy strikes shortly after Andrés receives a letter from the famous Marta Sandoval, inviting her old partner to her farewell concert in Miami, Florida with the hope of reconnecting, it's up to Vivo to deliver a message that Andrés never could: a love letter to Marta, written long ago, in the form of a song. Yet in order to get to the distant shores of Miami, Vivo will need to accept the help of Andrés’ grand-niece Gabi – an energetic tween who bounces to the beat of her own offbeat drum It definitely gives you that Coco vibe (which is not a surprise with Lin-Manuel Miranda's involvement) and may very well end up being something special in its own right. It will be also be interesting to see how well it stacks up against the similar looking Disney's Encanto when that film releases later this year. -YOU MAY ALSO BE INTERESTED IN:
