I became a fan of One Punch Man thanks mainly to the insanely genius plot about a regular good for nothing guy that somehow ended up being the world strongest hero. I became a fan because of the almost perfect blend of action and humour. I became a fan because the fight scenes were so gorgeously animated, I would re-watch each scene religiously for days. So imagine my inability to keep my excitement for season 2 to what is considered humanly possible. welllll....then I got my first good look at season 2 and, now I am worried.
When news first broke that season one animator's MADHOUSE STUDIO will be stepping away from the series we admit we remained cautiously optimistic that everything will be fine. I mean while we didn't expect new series animators JCSTAFF to match the exquisite animation of the first season, I had hoped the change wouldn't have been enough to be noticeable. Don't get me wrong, I am not saying season's 2 animation is particularly bad, just I feel a little bit of that unexplainable magic I got while watching the first season (which I re-watched just last week on Netflix) is now missing.
There is a slight change or more like foolish hopes that when the new season premiere, the art style and animation would have grown on me. Would I no longer watch one of my favourite animes if it doesn't? Of course not but, my excitement has definitely lowered ever so slightly. Season 2 is set to premiere exclusively on April 9 on Hulu in the US, and April 2 in Japan.
