BATS & TURTLES GO AT IT IN DC ANIMATION'S NEW MOVIE: BATMAN VS TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES18/3/2019
While the DC cinematic universe continues to trip over itself in a continuous state of confusion (although I did enjoy Aquaman), its animation counterpart has been anything but stellar. DC's animation team rarely makes a miss-step as their movies/tv shows ooze imagination, charm and masterful storytelling, a stark contrast to their Hollywood movies so far (excluding Nolan's Batman Trilogy of course). Now those crazy bastards are at up their usual creative best with the reveal of the there latest movie Batman vs Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
Batman Vs Tmnt is actually a joint production between DC Animations and Nickelodeon this time around and based off the six-issue intercompany crossover comic book miniseries, Batman/Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles by James Tynion IV and Freddie Williams II. The plot centres around the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles arrival in Gotham City following an accident with an inter-dimensional portal. Here, the turtles learn that their arch nemesis Shredder, is working with the League of Assassins and the Joker to put Gotham into a state of Mutation by turning the inmates at Arkham Asylum into anthropomorphic animal monsters, leaving Batman himself to investigate the criminal activity of the Foot and partner up with the Turtles to prevent that outcome.
This fight you would only expect to see in Mugen
As for presentation, while watching the reveal trailer, we noticed that the movie was sporting a softer art style (a clear nod to the early TMNT comics/shows) as well as, DC's usual high quality silky smooth animations. Best news of them all, long time DC animation voice actor Troy Baker reprises his roles not only as Batman but also as Joker a first for the Batman franchise where both roles are played by the same person.
Batman vs Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is on course for a May 14, 2019, digital release and a June 4, 2019, for a 4K Ultra HD Combo Pack and Blu-ray Combo Pack. We absolutely can't wait to see the dark knight once again clean up Gotham's mean streets, this time with the help of some turtle power.
