Beautiful anime cell shaded graphics? Check. Awesome looking combat? Check. Fun and engaging role-playing gameplay? Check. Interesting enemy designs? Ahh...nope! However, Scarlet Nexus still managed to capture the attention of gamers who are looking for a new anime action role-playing game especially with Tales of Arise still some months away. So, is this the beginning of a new stellar IP franchise? Here's the review roundup: DESTRUCTOID (SCORE 8/10) 'Scarlet Nexus is, ultimately, some gorgeous, action-heavy comfort food. It is Saturday morning anime in game form, and while it will struggle to hold your attention from a story perspective, it’s also a good way to lose 30 hours in a fun combat system. It’s not a narrative powerhouse, but if you need a vehicle for bashing monsters with the might of your brain, it’ll suit that need just fine.' For the full review please visit here. EASY ALLIES (SCORE 8/10) 'Scarlet Nexus more than delivers on the action with its impressive combat system, which alone almost makes it worth the price of admission. Surrounded by an intriguing world and strong cast of characters, it has the makings of a solid new series for Bandai Namco, though exploration leaves something to be desired. Offering up two similar campaigns might seem like a huge misstep, but completing either protagonist’s story provides a satisfying narrative and conclusion on its own, and the intimidating task of a second playthrough is tempered by the inclusion of new game plus. At the end of this journey, we’re left fulfilled, but strangely still yearning for more, wondering at the possibilities the future might hold for this striking new endeavor.' SCREEN RANT (SCORE 4/5) 'Scarlet Nexus feels like an anime adaptation, but instead of adapting a specific series, it's taking a hodgepodge of tropes and putting them in a blender. The story is almost an afterthought to its thrilling action, which never gets dull. The best superhero games are the ones that actually make the player feel like they are playing as a character from a comic book, and Scarlet Nexus manages to pull this off with style, making it an excellent choice for fans of over-the-top action or anime-style storytelling.' GAMES RADAR (SCORE 3.5/5) 'Scarlet Nexus has some great fun to offer through its experimental and varied combat system, and there’s a deluge of skills, attacks, and counters to mish-mash against one another for increasingly satisfying results. What ultimately lets Bandai Namco’s action game down is outside of the action itself, where side characters never amount to memorable, enjoyable companions, and a side quest structure that feels more primed to provide the player with character-boosting XP than tales that capitalize on the intriguing glowing city surrounding them.' Bandai Namco has crafted something truly strange and quite satisfying with Scarlet Nexus, and I hope we get a slightly more refined sequel.' For the full review please visit here. VG247 (VIDEO REVIEW) Overall, Scarlet Nexus currently sits at a Metascore of 80 from 48 reviews(PS5) which indicates it's a solid game. I love the art-style and the look of the combat but the story and enemy designs are putting me off. This is the best game to try on Xbox Game Pass. -YOU MAY ALSO BE INTERESTED IN:
