It has been months since Nintendo blasted a colourful collection of news, announcements and updates directly to us but, that all changed today with a surprise Nintendo Direct. This one had the moniker of 'Mini' attached that suggested this was going to be a short Direct but, in the end, it clocked in just short of 30 minutes. The 'Mini' more came from the fact that this Direct was voided of any major blockbusters news or reveals as there was no update on Breath of the Wild 2 or Bayonetta 4. What we got instead was definitely smaller in scale but, some good announcements managed to stand out. Here are our favourites: Xenoblade Chronicles gets new epilogueI loved loved LOVED the original release of the RPG, Xenoblade Chronicles when it was released all the way back on the Wii so, it warms my heart that it is getting another chance in the spotlight with this 'Definitive Edition' remaster. While it was great to finally have gotten a release date (May 29) the big take away from this Direct was that the game will be getting a DLC expansion epilogue, covering more story content. Bioshock Collection Coming to the SwitchAs stated above, I had a Wii console and for a long time as it was my only console (I am big Nintendo fanboy after all) for some time. With games like the aforementioned Xenoblade, Metroid Prime 3 and the Galaxy Games, I was quite content as a gamer despite the stereotypical view that it lacked games. However, I still looked upon at some games that were exclusive to the PS3/Xbox 360 with envy. Bioshock was one of those games but, with the news that a Bioshock, Borderlands and XCOM Collection will hit the Switch on May 29, I will finally get to see what all the fuss was about. smash ultimate's next fighter will be from armsWhen we compiled our Super Smash Bros Ultimate DLC Pack 2 wishlist last year, we only had third party characters on it. At the time, Byleth wasn't announced as the final fighter of Pack 1 so, we figured the trend of DLC fighters being from non-Nintendo own properties would continue. Well, series creator, Sakurai send us all another curveball with the news that the next fighter will be from the Switch other Nintendo fighting game ARMS. As someone who had some fun with the game, I welcome this addition as Smash was originally created as a celebration of all things Nintendo. We will learn who the lucky contestant will be with a full reveal in June. And that's practically all the news that got us excited. Some smaller stuff did pique our interest such as the free to play, Splatoon mix with Overwatch, multiplayer brawler Ninjala and, the cool looking package that contains A bunch of tabletop games including solitare, poker, mahjong, toy baseball (51 games in total), with local and online versus.
