Quickly...a raise of hands for those who had no idea who the Guardians of Galaxy were before their debuts in the MCU. Hmmm, come on! It can't just be me...right? Sure, we can debate from sun up to sun down about the cinematographic quality of the movies found in the MCU, but what I love the most about it is the great job it does at introducing more of the expanded Marvel characters/universes. This brings us back to the Guardians of the Galaxy. I enjoyed the MCU movies (at least the first one) and would very much welcome another chance to wrap myself in its world. In step Marvel's Guardians Of The Galaxy the game, but can it better the movies in portraying these unlikely group of heroes? Or were we better off waiting for the third film? Here's the review roundup: IGN (SCORE 8/10) 'Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy nicely balances a goofy, action-filled adventure with some genuinely heartfelt story moments, and the choices you’re given can add some surprising personal twists to your particular playthrough. Its combat and level design are relatively simple if still consistently entertaining, but it’s the relationships and banter between its characters that keep everything fresh as they evolve. It isn’t going to set the world on fire, but Guardians of the Galaxy is still another convincing example of how much fun a linear, no-frills, single-player campaign can be.' GAMESRADAR (SCORE 4/5) 'Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy excels in its storytelling, delivering a narrative that will linger with you long after the credits roll - so much so I am eager to go back in and make different decisions. There's great fun to be had in its combat and puzzle solving, but it's held back a little by a lack of range in its puzzles and mechanics, particularly later on.' GAMESPOT (SCORE 7/10) 'Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy doesn't feature an engaging combat system, save for the moments where the team huddles provide a loose connection to the much more engaging narrative theme of the strength of communication. The game instead shines via its storytelling, which is enhanced by a talented collection of voice actors and a wonderful soundtrack. If this game is your introduction to the titular heroes, it's not the best first impression, but sometimes when the galaxy needs to be saved, you can settle for good enough.' DESTRUCTOID (SCORE 6.5/10) 'Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy coasts by quite a bit on personality, and that’s definitely going to make it divisive. Playing through it myself, I was constantly torn. When it gets going and it’s firing on all cylinders, it’s fun. But it’s also exceedingly linear (in a negative sense in some aspects of the game) and many of the choices it offers are surface-level at best. Treat it like an arcadey weekend romp and you’ll be fine: bonus points if you already adore these lovable little bandits.' For the full review please visit here. GAMEINFORMER (SCORE 8.5/10) 'As a fan of the Guardians’ comic books and movies, I thoroughly enjoyed Eidos-Montreal’s unique take on this supergroup. The nonstop character banter and nicely designed choices make this a journey worth taking, even if the gameplay takes a little too long to highlight the team’s true potential.' The game has been getting scores from the highest of highs to the lowest of lows, meaning critical opinions were a bit divisive. However, it does seem to be better than last year's Avengers game, and that's good enough for me -YOU MAY ALSO BE INTERESTED IN:
