When we first saw Kena: Bridge of Spirits, it seems as if Dreamworks, Zelda, Pikmin and Kameo spawned an unholy love child. It definitely left a lasting impression, one that had been basically cyber stalking the developers for every drop of tasty news about the game that may come. And with delays after delays, I was getting tired of appetizers and was ready for the main entrée. Finally, that time has arrived. The game is out, and reviewers got the first bite. So, was it tasty as imagined? Here's the review roundup: GAMEINFORMER (SCORE 9/10) 'Bridge of Spirits stumbles a little in spots, yet confidently sprints into the heart of the adventure, rewarding the player with secrets galore and visuals that are almost always worth admiring. If you love Zelda-like games or are just looking for an experience that will make you smile every step of the way, you can’t go wrong with Kena: Bridge of Spirits.' It's one of those rare games that feels like it belongs to the new generation thanks to its magnificent world, and its developers knew exactly how ambitious to be while still providing a top rate experience. Ember Lab is already planning its next game, and that's certainly an exciting prospect indeed, though playing through the studio's first effort already comes highly recommended.' DESTRUCTOID (SCORE 8/10) 'Part of me wishes that the Rot were more prevalent in (meaningful) puzzle-solving and traversal, and part of me appreciates that this game is as concise and focused as it is, knowing full well that Ember Lab could run the risk of overcommitting. At times, the world feels too sparse and samey, but I think the restraint was smart overall. While the platforming can be almost too basic, the action feels spot-on in a really streamlined way.I wouldn’t call Kena: Bridge of Spirits overly ambitious. More like “strategically ambitious.” Ember Lab avoided biting off more than it could chew with its first game, and I dug it.' For the full review please visit here.
GAMESRADAR+ (SCORE 4/5) 'Any technical issues for me were also outweighed by just how much I liked being in the world and learning how to traverse it, even if occasionally it meant my neighbors heard some new swear words through the walls. Some moments feel crafted by the writers and characters designers to be truly special, like when you free a magical creature called Rufus who was trapped by the corruption, or at the ending which even made my withered old heart beat extra hard. Thanks to its storytelling and visual design there's just something warm and alive in Kena: Bridge of Spirits, which is perhaps fitting for a game that is so focused on death.' It's enjoyable enough to play that its characters and environments—sun-kissed forests, moody caves, a snowy mountain—aren't wasted, even if they aren't used to the fullest. I enjoyed exploring them all, despite having to fiddle with the settings to get performance I was happy with.' This game is just drop-dead gorgeous and easily, would let you forget about this being an indie game. I can't wait to play it. -YOU MAY ALSO BE INTERESTED IN:
