There is no question that Sony Pictures Animation is on a roll these 2 years after copping two Oscar wins (for 2018’s feature Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse and 2019’s short Hair Love). Not resting on their laurels, the studio was already hard at work on a new interesting project called Wish Dragon which sees them, partner, up with China’s Base Animation. With the famous Jackie Chan also having a hand in production, it was indeed a project that piques the curiosity. So, imagine our joy when the first trailer was released a couple of days ago. Wish Dragon Story Synopsis A tale of discovering the greatest wish of all. The story is a genie-in-a-bottle retelling set in contemporary China … The modern-day fairy tale picks up the moral challenges that emerge from the encounter between a boy and a dragon who is able to make wishes come true. The plot and trailer definitely give off that 'Aladdin in China' vibe, but I am digging its animation style so far. The only problem, Sony have yet announced a firm western release date. With the Chinese poster displaying the films' western title as well as this trailer also being in English, lessens the fear of it never releasing over this side of the globe. Perhaps, maybe it will be a digital release only type of deal? Regardless, I am excited and can't wait to see more. -YOU MAY ALSO BE INTERESTED IN:
