The usual glitz and glamour were on in full display at the 92nd Academy Award show that was held last night. Heavy hitters Joker and 1917 were the runaway favourites for the majority of the categories but, it was South Korean film, Parasite (no relation to the Japanese anime Parasyte) and its charismatic director, that stole all the headlines. As for the major animation categories, like Parasite, Hair Love was the underdog turned hero as it copped the Oscar for Best Animated Short. While it was the usual status quo in Best Animated Feature category as Toy Story 4 came out on top. Best Animated Feature Film Nominees and Our Predicted Winner:
OUR VOTE: Klaus MOST LIKELY WINNER: Toy Story 4 And as it turned out, we were right on the money. We liked Toy Story 4 a lot and believed it wrapped up one the industries' most influential animated series in a perfect way but, we adored Klaus and had hoped it managed to pulled off the upset. Best Animated Short Film Nominees and Our Predicted Winner:
OUR VOTE: Hair Love MOST LIKELY WINNER: Hair Love And we were right again with it being a double delight, as we were rooting heavily for Sony Pictures Animation product. This category is always a tough one to win as it's one of the few Academy Award categories that all nominees are usually deserving winners. But there was something special about Hair Love and here's hoping we see more from Matthew A. Cherry and Karen Rupert Toliver (the short film creators) in the future. Congratulations again to our two winners and one day, we here at Blue Crescent Studio hopes the replicate your achievements.
In other news, award season ain't quite over just yet, as Anime streaming giants Crunchy Roll will be hosting there annual Anime Awards Show on February 15.
