Like Brandy & Monica, Jay-Z & Linkin Park, or Peanut Butter & Jelly, a great collab can create a beautiful and memorable experience. Such collabs happen quite frequently in the gaming world (see Marvel vs Capcom, Super Smash Bros, etc.), but it is never a guarantee the final product will produce sweet music. Well, Koei Tecmo and Nintendo are teaming up once again for another warriors game, this time bringing us back to the world of Three Houses with Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes. So does this latest Nintendo warriors mash-up produce gaming symphony? Here's what critics had to say:
DESTRUCTOID  (SCORE 9/10)
'The more I played Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes, the more I became invested. Every five chapters or so is about the cadence that I felt my excitement steadily rising, and I’m happily working on another playthrough to check out an additional path, more story, and more characters. While the core Warriors gameplay likely isn’t going to completely win over folks who have already tried to get into it, those of you who do enjoy it should have a ton of fun with Three Hopes.'

NINTENDO LIFE  (SCORE 9/10)

'Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes is a thoroughly entertaining mash-up of Musou mayhem, strategy and relationship-building aspects that should more than satisfy fans of both the franchises involved here. It improves upon its 2017 predecessor in several ways, most notably in providing a far more engaging story featuring a narrative that's ripe for several replays. With impressively solid performance on Switch and an action-packed campaign that'll see you blasting your way through tens of thousands of foes for a good 30 hours in a single playthrough, this is right up there with the very best Omega Force has served up thus far.'

IGN  (SCORE 8/10)

'You generally know what you’re getting into when you boot up any Omega Force games, but Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes includes pleasant surprises. Unlike the original Fire Emblem Warriors, Three Hopes no longer feels like a musou game with references to another series layered on, but a true hybrid of Fire Emblem’s social gameplay and Warriors’ battles, and it works despite overstaying its welcome and missing the mark when it comes to the more intimate interactions. Any progress in the Warriors series is welcome, and Three Hopes is full of well-considered changes that should bode well for the future.'

GAMEINFORMER  (SCORE  8/10)
'Three Hopes runs a few chapters too long, and some late-game twists don’t carry the impact they should as a result, but my 36 hours were a great time. Three Hopes successfully and expertly integrates everything great about Three Houses into its musou format, both in narrative and in gameplay; it’s been one of my favorite Switch experiences in recent memory as a result. If you like Three Houses, you should play Three Hopes, and I’d recommend it to you even if you aren’t familiar with the musou genre. And if you haven’t played Three Houses, there’s a good chance that’ll be your next game after rolling credits on this one.'

GAMES RADAR (SCORE 4.5/5)
'Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes almost pulls off what should be an audacious crossover – frantic large-scale, Dynasty Warriors-style battles with some of the tactical depth which made Fire Emblem so famous. Where Three Hopes slips is in its ability to properly breathe new life into the characters that were so clearly at the heart of the Three Houses experiences. Support Links are a nice touch, and demonstrate that there's more to Three Hopes than hacking-and-slashing across big open battlefields, but the sidelining of such a beloved cast of heroes is difficult to square away. '

GAMESPOT (VIDEO REVIEW)

Overall, Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes currently sits at a Metascore of 80 from 53 reviews. In contrast, its predecessor, Fire Emblem Warriors, garnered a score of 79 from 75 reviews in 2017, signalling that this new entry is an improved experience. If you have never played a Warriors game before but are a fan of Fire Emblem Three Houses, this seems to be a great way of returning to a familiar world and familiar faces.
