We are only seven days into the first month of the New Year and, Nintendo fans are already feverishly clamouring for the almost traditional January Direct. The first Direct of the year often brings with it a host of megaton news and reveals from the house of Mario, so when the next Direct was finally announced, we got hit with the surprising fact that it will be strictly focused on Pokemon.
It is definitely a surprise that Nintendo's first Direct will be Pokemon-themed especially since we just got the release of Pokemon Sword & Shield only a few months ago. Maybe we will get our first look at Sword & Shield DLC? Or maybe another remake of an older game in the series ala Omega Ruby/Alpha Sapphire? Perhaps a Let's Go Pikachu/Eevee 2 is on its way? Or an unlikely 'only in my dreams' announcement of a Pokken 2 maybe on the cards? Whatever the Pokemon Company and Nintendo have up their sleeves we will find out live this Thursday right here:
Not a Pokemon fan? You can rest easy knowing that this Direct doesn't necessarily mean that the chance of traditional January Direct is gone. Nintendo has in the past released a more traditional Direct a week after a Pokemon focused Direct, so anything is still possible.
