You would be forgiven if you had forgotten about Disintegration since its E3 debut some time back. It has completely flown under the radar with and due for release this month without any major fanfare. The game is an "action-driven first-person shooter, set in near-future sci-fi universe created by V1 Interactive, a newly-assembled studio of industry veterans." With a small staff of 30 consisting of former Halo developers, expectations are mixed for this one. So, just how well did it fared? Here's the review roundup: GAMESPOT (SCORE 7/10) 'When Disintegration works, it really works. You're shooting guns, you're calling advances and retreats, ordering missile strikes. You really get the sense that you're in the thick of it, the heart of a battle. Both the excitement and stress it induces are testaments to how thoroughly the gameplay draws you in. There are elements around the periphery of the experience that could have been better tuned, but they do not detract from what makes it work.' For the full review please visit here. DESTRUCTOID (SCORE 6.5/10) 'Disintegration is highly ambitious, and I think that over time a combination of free and paid DLC could shore up some of its weaknesses. Either way, I'm already looking forward to a potential Disintegration 2: this world is worth lingering in.' For the full review please visit here. GAMEINFORMER (SCORE 6/10) 'Disintegration’s core idea of blending a first-person shooter with a strategy game is neat, but it takes so many missteps that the promising concept gets lost. The action is repetitive, and the basic mission design is tired – you can’t even save the game mid-mission, which is particularly baffling. Amid the tedium, I had an occasional moments of fun in Disintegration, but those moments were fleeting.' For the full review please visit here.
GAMESRADAR+ (SCORE 2/5) 'I have no idea who I'd recommend Disintegration to. It feels too shallow for strategy fans and too flimsy for shooter fans. If there is a group of people who really liked the turret section in Binary Domain and thought it would be improved by the addition of pet robots and another 10 hours, maybe they could extract some amount of fun from Disintegration. Unfortunately, I could not. ' For the full review please visit here. IGN (SCORE 6/10) 'Flying around and giving orders to cool-looking robots is a neat concept, but the simple shooting and squad management of Disintegration’s single-player campaign make it fall pretty flat after a while. The surprising lack of customization and progression make the battles feel disconnected outside of the story, which has some decent characters but is otherwise a pretty straightforward rebellion against evil robot overlords.' From what I gather, the game does show potential and but falls short in its execution. Not a bad start by the new studio and hope they improve upon the design via DLC/patches or even a sequel. -YOU MAY ALSO BE INTERESTED IN:
