If you are a 90s kid like I am, there are two superhero cartoons you just had to rush home from school, skip doing that annoying homework and kick back with a bowl of most sugary cereal on earth to watch. One was the excellent Batman: The Animated Series with the other being X-Men: The Animated Series. With Xmen, you would have had that now legendary opening theme song on repeat in your head all day long. Well, now you are in your 30s and hit with another reminder that the 90s were better has today Marvel is being sued by a man named Zoltan Krisko over that beloved theme song.
Gossip publication TMZ, as they often do, revealed further information about the lawsuit. According to their report, Krisko is suing Marvel Entertainment, FOX, Disney and others for copyright infringement due to the song’s similarities to the theme of a Hungarian cop show from the ‘80s called Linda. Krisko filed the lawsuit on behalf of the estate of Gyorgy Vukan's, the late composer of Linda’s theme song.
Linda is a Hungarian action adventure series that aired on Hungarian television from 1984-1989
More from TMZ's report goes on to explain that the lawsuit alleges "all the success the [X-Men: The Animated Series] franchise achieved for Marvel and many other companies is a result of that iconic [song] and, as he claims, stolen theme song."
I have listened to both songs and I definitely heard some similarities (although, admittedly I was really looking hard for those similarities) between the two. You can take a listen and judge for yourself below.
