Can you believe that we are now only a short 3 months away from the start of Next-Gen? The Xbox Series X and the PS5 release date is fast approaching, and while we wait to find out when we can get our pre-ordering on, we must not neglect our current-gen consoles that still have a little life left. Here are the best games releasing this August: fall guys: ultimate knockouts (august 4)The visuals may scream cutesy indie made and its title may sound like a bad Will Farrell movie, but Falls Guys: Ultimate Knockouts may be the most refreshing take on battle royal we have to see yet. It is heavily inspired by obstacle racing TV games like Takeshi's Castle, Wipeout or Ninja Warrior, where 60 players have to overcome challenges and various obstacles without failing to grab the only crown and become the winner. Trust me, after playing the beta you too will fall in love with this guy. Risk of Rain 2 (August 11)Speaking of fun looking indie titles. Admittedly, I never played the first Risk of Rain, but always heard great things about the rouge-like indie title. Risk of Rain 2 follows a similar approach as the first title, in which one to four players must progress several different levels while killing enemies. On each level the goal is to locate a teleporter, randomly located on the level; once activated, the players must defend themselves from an onslaught of aliens, including bosses until the teleporter is fully active. Killing aliens gains experience and currency; the currency can be used to open chests that randomly drop items on the level. PGA TOUR 2K21 (AUGUST 21)I know what you are thinking? 'Why is a sports sims title here?' Look, I do understand that in today's world of updates and DLCs that some gamers do feel a little jilted to payout a full $60 bucks on marginal changes between yearly sports releases. BUT! We are now in a COVID-19 world where that burning desired to hit the greens burns brighter than ever. Games like FIFA 21, Madden 21 and PGA Tour 2K21 scratches this itch, and this sports-loving gamer is very grateful for them this year.
Samurai Jack: A battle through time (august 21)Speaking of burning desires...If you have been itching for some good ole action-platforming based one a beloved cartoon series from your childhood, you can play Spongebob battle for Bikini Bottom Re-hydrated or wait for the arrival of Samurai Jack: A Battle Through Time later this month. Priced at $39.99, the game's script was written by TV series head writer Darrick Bachman. In it, Jack has been trapped in an alternate timeline by Aku in their final confrontation and will team up with familiar allies to fight his way home. Battle Through Time features over a dozen unique weapons along with the show's beloved blend of drama and humour. PROJECT CARS 3 (August 28)During the big Xbox Series X first-party games showcase, racing sim fans were hoping to hear more on the next Forza, and while they did receive some information, it's clear that it some ways away from releasing. Luckily, Project Cars 3 is releasing this month, a more than capable stand-in for Microsoft's Juggernaut racing series. So...that's August. Not the most glamour-est list you will ever see with a clear absence of any major Triple-A titles (Got to wait for September for those), but each title listed here is guarantee fun. -YOU MAY ALSO BE INTERESTED IN:
