March finally got this year of gaming off and running with some truly fantastic games. The likes of Doom Eternal, Animal Crossing and Nioh 2 had scored big with both critics and gamers. And, now its April turn. This upcoming month may not match the previous with the sheer number of outstanding games but, it does have a possible generation-defining game in its mitts. Here are the best games releasing in April: Resident evil 3 (april 3)RE 3 is up first when it comes to this month's major releases and, as you can see from our review roundup yesterday, it's a good game. This latest remake shares the same over the shoulder gunplay from last year's remake along with a brand new PvE multiplayer to up its value. It may not have hit the same highs as last years RE 2 remake but, it is an excellent way to start April. final fantasy 7 remake (april 10)Remember that potential generation-defining game we were referring to before? Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you...FINAL FANTASY 7 REMAKE. While it sounds like us (and practically the entire gaming community) are overselling a game that has not yet been released, everything we have seen, heard and played so far points to this being a truly special game. Over 5 years in the making, surely there is no way it can let us down at this point right?....RIGHT?! PREDATOR: HUNTING GROUNDS (APRIL 24)Playing as a badass Predator in a video game is one thing but, to also have the ability to hunt your gun touting friends in the jungle using shoulder-mounted lasers and cloaking technology, sounds like the greatest game ever. Predator: Hunting Grounds is an immersive asymmetrical shooter set in remote areas, where the Predator stalks the most challenging prey. Play as a member of an elite Fireteam and complete paramilitary operations before the Predator finds you. And, while we will need to wait for the game's full release on the 24th to see if it's a great game overall (the beta had performance issues), the beta was some of the best multiplayer fun we have ever had. trials of mana (april 24)This month, powerhouse Japanese developers Square Enix is readying not one but two JRPG remakes for release. One being FF7 of course but, we are also getting the much more obscure Trials of Mana over here in the west. Trials of Mana, known before 2019 as Seiken Densetsu 3, is a 1995 action role-playing game developed and published by Square for the Super Famicom. It is the sequel to the 1993 game Secret of Mana and is the third instalment in the Mana series. I didn't play much of the original Mana series myself but, after taking the demo for this remake out for a spin, I will definitely keep an eye out for it. Gears TacticsAfter the successful return of the Gears of War series last year with Gears 5, Xbox fans are getting even more Gears this month with Gears Tactics. The game is the fast-paced, turn-based strategy game set 12 years before the first Gears of War. Cities on the planet Sera are beginning to fall to the monstrous threat rising from underground – the Locust Horde. Thanks to the likes of XCOM 2 and more recently Fire Emblem Three Houses, the turn-based strategy RPG genre is seeing a resurgence and Tactics is looking to capitalize. It was always going to be a tall order for April to match the quality of March but what we got here ain't looking too bad. Resident Evil 3 looks great with both Gears Tactics and especially Predator, also looking like oodles of fun. But who are we kidding? This month clearly belongs to the juggernaut...FINAL FANTASY 7. -YOU MAY ALSO BE INTERESTED IN:
