First up, I won't lie...I had zero interest in this movie. Trolls World Tour is done by wonder studio Dreamworks, which produced some of my favourite animated projects over the years but, the original Trolls movie and this sequel just never grabbed my attention. Well, until now, since the presence of the COVID-19 is forcing me to be at home (for the entire Easter Holiday weekend even), I suddenly have the time to try out new things. So, I am will give the film a chance when it releases this weekend but, is it worth my interest? Here's what the critics had to say in our latest Review Roundup: THE LA TIMES 'Despite the range of musical genres represented and the obsessive attention to visual detail, there is a bland, wearying homogeneity to the way “Trolls World Tour” looks and sounds. Kendrick’s and Timberlake’s voices blend as nicely as before, and their emotional dynamic — Poppy’s relentless, oblivious good cheer versus Branch’s sadness and skepticism — may remind you a little of Pixar’s “Inside Out,” though no comparison could be less flattering to this movie. I admit to having a soft spot for any picture that resembles an explosion at the glitter factory. But it’s still a factory.' For the full review please visit here. THE GAURDIAN 'there is something absolutely robotic about Trolls World Tour: the voices, the design, the dialogue, the plot progressions, the break-up-make-up crisis between Poppy and Branch, everything. It’s chillingly efficient, like a driverless car going round in circles.' For the full review please visit here. THE WRAP 'I streamed “Trolls World Tour” at home with my family, and I believe streaming actually enhanced our experience. We’ve been sheltering at home for two weeks here in Los Angeles, and the film provided a delightful little break amid all the panic outside. My teen might have checked out a couple times (“It’s a little baby-ish, sometimes” she tells me), but it got our little family to forget about the world for 100 minutes, hum a few fun tunes, and relax a little.' VARIETY 'the first “Trolls” had a much richer and better story. This one creates the effect of watching rudimentary puzzle pieces — and a generic we-live-in-one-world-but-we’re-all-different message — fall into place. Kendrick’s Poppy has to learn to listen more (not exactly a heroine’s mythic journey), and even when Timberlake’s testy Branch declares his love to her, the effect seems weirdly muted by the film’s not wanting to overplay its romantic angle. If you’re a fan of “Trolls,” “Trolls World Tour” will evoke what you cherished about it. But this one is too cautious to match that blissed-out sparkle.' For the full review please visit here. THE HOLLYWOOD REPORTER 'The helpful life lessons about diversity, tolerance and kindness that are delivered along the way are certainly worth repeating, but maybe not as incessantly as the filmmakers seem to believe. If the Trolls ever return in a future feature, hopefully they’re a bit more mischievous and a little less self-righteous.' For the full review please visit here. DOUBLE TOASTED (VIDEO REVIEW) Currently, the film has a respectful score of 79% from a total of 19 reviews over at rotten tomatoes. This is not a bad score by any means, but, it does seem there is very little to enjoy here for anyone above pre-school. Luckily, with the current virus outbreak, this is the only major animated film to be released in the first half of the year so, it will benefit from the lack of competitions. Trolls World Tour is available on-demand April 10. -YOU MAY ALSO BE INTERESTED IN:
