Arc System Works' GUILTY GEAR series may not have the long history and branding of the Street Fighter series or the distinguishable violent flash and glamour of the Mortal Kombat series, but good God!...each game just oozes beauty. From the very beginning with 1998 Guilty Gear's pixel animation, Arc System Works has managed to keep pushing beyond the boundaries on what we should expect when comes to fighting games' graphics/animation but, with the revealed of Guilty Gear 2020's latest trailer from the Tokyo Game Show last night, they have somehow outdone themselves again.
Of course, as an animation studio and lover of all things animation, I can't stop 'fanboying' about how good this game looks so far. Even better, the icing on this gorgeous cake is knowing that these games aren't just eye candy, but a very fun, very deep fighting game also exists under all of that pretty.
Outside of the stunning graphics and animation the trailer also confirmed May as a playable character. It also confirmed that another new trailer will be released during fighting game tournament CEOtaku 2019, which runs from September 27 to 29 in Orlando, Florida.
New Guilty Gear is due out for PlayStation 4 (word from TGS is that the game is not an exclusive) in 2020 and I can't wait.
