We are finally in the home stretch of Summer and thus a short time away from the raging floods of games that traditionally start pouring in from the start of Fall. This is not to say the month of August doesn't have some quality titles as well, here are our picks you should keep an eye on: Yu-Gi-Oh! Legacy of the Duelist: Link Evolution (August 20th)When the Yu-Gi-Oh! anime first aired in the west, it quickly became a cultural phenomenon. This was especially so here in Jamaica as kids of all ages could not get enough of "duelling". Fast forward 19 years to today and Yu-Gi-Oh! still has a large following, so it's no surprise that we are getting a new game on the switch. Well...new enough as Yu-Gi-Oh! Legacy of the Duelist: Link Evolution is more of an enhanced port of the PS4 and Xbox versions. This version now includes over 9,000 cards to build your Deck from. ONINAKI (AUGUST 22ND)Speaking of the Switch, enjoying a lengthy JRPG on the go is arguably the best reason to own one, so it is no surprise that the console continues to receive games of this ilk. Next in line is the new Action-RPG, ONINAKI, that tells the story of one Watcher on a journey to protect Life, after Death. The game features exciting hack and slash style battles, with deep customization of your daemons and weapons. The game will also be available on the PS4 and PC (Steam). CONTROL (AUGUST 27TH)2010's Alan Wake was a magnificent game and, I waited upon bated breath for the announcement of a sequel ever since. Control might not be that sequel but, from the early impressions of the action-adventure game by some publications that got to play it early, so far it seems that it is very much a Remedy Entertainment game through and through. The game revolves around the Federal Bureau of Control (FBC), a secret U.S. government agency tasked with containing and studying phenomena which violate the laws of reality. Control is set to be released on August 27, 2019, for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One POKEMON MASTERS (aUGUST 29TH)While Pokemon fans salivate at each new Pokemon Sword & Shield trailer, another Pokemon game is coming out much sooner. That game is Pokemon Masters, a mobile game that represents the first collaboration between the Pokemon Company and mobile game developer DeNA. The game seems to be somewhat more flesh out than Pokemon GO focusing more on battles and a surprisingly fully involved story mode. Barring any last-minute delay fans on both iPhone and Android will be able to take on the masters on August 29th. ASTRAL CHAIN (aUGUST 30TH)Sometimes the best is truly indeed last as the Nintendo Switch's stellar year of exclusives continues with the release of Astral Chain. Developed by action game masters PlatinumGames (they developed both Bayonneta & Nier: Automata) and published by Nintendo, the game has you using both thumbsticks to control two characters to perform amazing hack & slash combos. As the game's release date inches closer and closer, I can hardly contain my excitement as Astral Chain is not only my most anticipated game of August but the year as well. And that concludes our top 5 recommended games for August. I must also mention Gamescon is also this month and we may get a few surprise August games. Let us know which of these are looking forward to the most and which game I may have missed.
