If you were wondering where the heck is that Joker DLC for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate then you are in luck, as Nintendo decided to gives us an early Easter treat and release the character yesterday. But wait! There is more! The Character Pack 1 featuring Joker was also accompanied with the arrival of the game's version 3.0 update which features some new modes. Here is the full breakdown of what smashers are getting with today's DLC and update:
CHARACTER PACK 1 (JOKER)
In typical Smash Bros. style, Joker's move-set and design will heavily represent what is shown in his game Persona 5. This includes Joker's Persona itself as being apart of the Smash gameplay mechanic. Players will be able to build up a Persona meter, which will allow them to summon Joker's main persona Arsene. Once summoned, Arsene will grant Joker buffs or completely alters all of his B-specials. Some of these buffs include a down special that can both counter and reflect projectiles as well as an invulnerable up special. As for Joker's 'Final Smash,' he will be accompanied by recognizable members of his team from Persona 5 to unleash a devastating combo attack on his unfortunate victims. Furthermore, the DLC pack will also include the 'Mementos' stage from Persona 5 and features the stage's base colour changing depending on the music being played.
VeRSION 3.0 UPDATE
Just as it did with the Piranha Plant DLC, the game received an update to coincide with Joker's arrival. The new update brings with it the return of fan favourite 'Stage Builder mode'. Players can build in either handheld mode or via TV Mode, and there will be "new stage elements" for players to choose from. A Video Editor mode will also be included enabling players the ability to import videos saved to their Nintendo Switch and edit on a timeline. Players will be able to share these videos and stages in a new Shared Content mode. Players can upload and download Mii Fighters and custom stages, upvote creations, and follow specific creators. The new doesn't end there as Nintendo also revealed Smash World for the Nintendo Switch Online app on smart devices. It will allow players to view stages and videos without starting up Smash Bros. Ultimate, searching by fighters or recommendations. You can queue stages to download from the app to have them ready to download the next time you play Smash Bros. In-game notifications can be checked here, while Spirits teams can also be created via the app.
The new modes are apart of the free 3.0 update but Joker and his stage Mementos will cost you $6USD or you can pay $25USD for the season pass to unlocked the future DLC fighters as soon as they release. Now with Joker finally out of the way attention now turn to the reveal of the next DLC Character (Come on Sub-Zero). For more gaming news check out ourGames of April to watch out for.
