If you're a parent, chances are you've heard the familiar call, "No job is too big, no pup is too small!" ringing through your living room as your child's favorite pups spring into action on your television screen. Well, get ready to experience the Paw Patrol like never before, as they embark on their biggest mission yet on the silver screen. "Paw Patrol: The Mighty Movie" has finally arrived in theaters, promising a cinematic adventure that's sure to leave both kids and adults on the edge of their seats. Is it a mighty upgrade to the first Paw Patrol film? Here's the review roundup: Continue below for written version. NEW YORK TIMES (Claire Shaffer) 'If you can imagine your kiddo enjoying an animated car-chase scene featuring puppies and kittens, set to Icona Pop’s “I Love It,” they’ll probably be thrilled with “The Mighty Movie.” Read the full review here THE HOLLYWOOD REPORTER (FRANK SCHECK) 'Unfortunately, much of the film’s running time is taken up not with heartwarming stories like this but rather the sort of typically mind-numbing action sequences stuffing adult live-action superhero franchises. Some of them are pretty spectacular animation-wise, such as Skye crash-landing a disabled plane on a city street that’s been cleared for her by her fellow pups, or a chase scene in which the pups are nearly stomped on by a newly giant-sized Humdinger. But the frenetic mayhem becomes tiresome in its repetitiveness, although kids already hopped up on candy and soda will presumably not mind at all.' Read the full review here VARIETY (COURTNEY HOWARD) 'This time, their mission holds greater challenge and peril — raising the bar creatively and bumping the MPAA rating from G to PG. While not as subversive as its predecessor, it delivers on the promise of a smart and salient sequel with bolder action, bigger stakes, and deeper resonance for all ages.' Read the full review here
MERCURY NEWS (RANDY MEYERS) '“Paw Patrol: The Mighty Movie” is nicely animated and reminds kids to celebrate their qualities and power from within. It won’t win awards but it is certain to delight its target audience.' Read the full review here RICHARDCROUSE.COM (RICARD CROUSE) '“PAW Patrol: The Mighty Movie” is bigger and louder than 2021’s “PAW Patrol” or the television show. Returning director Cal Brunker pumps up the action, creating a sort of Marvel movie for the preschool set. Colourful action scenes will grab kid’s attention, but the spirit of cooperation, and messages of over-coming obstacles and never judging a book by its cover, that lie at the heart of the “PAW Patrol” franchise are never far away.' Read the full review here MAMA'S GEEKY (VIDEO REVIEW) In the end, the film amassed a rather disappointing score of 85% from 13 reviews on Rotten Tomatoes.
Both my son and I adored 2021's Paw Patrol: The Movie. So much so, that we quickly became fans of the tv series since. But lately, his taste has matured a tad bit as he craves a little more action with his preschool lessons. What timing?! The critics here all aloud to a Paw Patrol sequel that is big on both heart and action. Sounds like another father-son outings is on the cards.
