2022 saw a major push for movies to return to the big screen after the last two years of streaming services. A year that also saw a plethora of great animated films (Turning red, puss in boots) to match, but only one can be crowned as our 2022 ANIMATED MOVIE OF THE YEAR! Also, we should note that we are excluding anime movies from this list as that will in be in it's own category. The NOMINEESBAD GUYS (ROTTEN TOMATOES 86% from 92 reviews) A great score and one that signals a return to form for Dreamworks. It may not be their greatest work, it may not be a household name like Pus in Boots, but the journey with these bad guys was an enjoyable one. THE BOB'S BURGER MOVIE (ROTTEN TOMATOES 88% from 97 reviews) Honestly, like South Park and The Simpson that came before it, the critics opinions on these film should never be any major factor. These movies are (well, usually) a love letter to the die-hards, and for this mission, one can say job done. PUSS IN BOOTS:THE LAST WISH (ROTTEN TOMATOES 92% from 124 reviews) Admittedly, a small sample size, but an outstanding score nonetheless. A score that perfectly etches Puss in Boots: The Last Wish in the upper echelons of the Shrek films. TURNING RED (ROTTEN TOMATOES 92% from 61 reviews) An absolutely great score, and further proof that when at their best, Pixar is number one in this industry. AND THE WINNER IS......PUSS IN BOOTS: THE LAST WISH Yes Turning red was a delight, but our award goes to this Dreamwork's modern classic. The Shrek franchise died a quick death after the fourth Shrek film, so Last wish already had an uphill battle in persuading us to return, and after the credits rolled, we were glad we did. The film is chest-busting hilarious, and the new art style is a visual treat for the eyes. All of this came together to produce our 2022 ANIMATED FILM OF THE YEAR. -YOU MAY ALSO BE INTERESTED IN:
