It's not every day an anime movie is released in western cinemas. What's even rarer, is one that debuts in the west before it does Japan. Human Lost, an anime adaptation of the Japanese novel No Longer Human by Osamu Dazai, is the latest to do exactly that. A new trailer for the film was released today which gave us our first taste of the dubbing as well as the United States release date.
The Official Synopsis
From the chief director of PSYCHO-PASS, director of Afro Samurai, and the studio that brought you Godzilla: Planet of the Monsters. The year is 2036. A revolution in medical treatment has conquered death by means of internal nanomachines and the “Shell System”, yet only the richest can afford to partake. Yozo Oba isn’t the richest. Troubled by strange dreams, he flippantly joins his friend’s biker gang on an ill-fated incursion to “The Inside”, where society’s elite lives. This instigates a journey of terrifying discovery that will change Yozo’s life forever. I love the plot and the world that is created and would love to go to Carib 5 here in Kingston to watch it. Unfortunately, while few niche anime films make it to American cinemas, even fewer make it to Jamaica. Our best option may just be to wait on a digital release.
