I am flogging what is surely the decrepit remains of the COVID-19 horse by once again mentioning that 2020 was a rough year for the animation film industry. However, as the saying goes, "the show must go on", and so does this year's Academy Awards. The nominees for each category have been revealed, including those in animation. BEST ANIMATED FEATURE FILM
OUR VOTE: Soul MOST LIKELY WINNER: Soul BEST ANIMATED SHORT FILM
OUR VOTE: Burrow MOST LIKELY WINNER: If Anything Happens I Love You In regards to the Animated film feature film category, it really is a Netflix vs Pixar battle with Apple playing the dark horse role. Pixar is, of course, the granddaddy here and no strangers to this stage, but with the likes of great films such as Klaus last year and Over the Moon this year, Netflix is proving to be a real up and coming contender. Nonetheless, I believe this will be Soul's award, but I would not be shocked if Apple Tv's Wolfwalker pulled off the upset. As for the Animated Short Film category, I will admit I haven't gotten the chance to watch many of this year's nominees, but I do like Burrow, so it gets my vote. I also like the looks of If Anything Happens I Love You and would have no problem if it wins. The Oscars are scheduled for Sunday, April 25, 2021. -YOU MAY ALSO BE INTERESTED IN
